Le manoir, de style m\u00e9diterran\u00e9en avec balcons et terrasses, a \u00e9t\u00e9 une r\u00e9sidence de campagne et d\u2019exploitation agricole fin XIXe-d\u00e9but XXe si\u00e8cle, puis abandonn\u00e9 sous le r\u00e9gime communiste avant d\u2019\u00eatre restaur\u00e9 et transform\u00e9 en centre d\u2019art dans les ann\u00e9es 2000. Dans sa morphologie, le lieu m\u00eale des r\u00e9f\u00e9rences aux villas italiennes et au style Art d\u00e9co, et s\u2019ouvre sur le parc dont il avale la lumi\u00e8re. L\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat d\u2019Emma Durovray s\u2019est port\u00e9 sur les maillages, les rinceaux et les spirales qui s\u2019enchev\u00eatrent dans l\u2019architecture de la vill\u00e9giature, et davantage encore dans ses espaces de seuils &#8211; portails, balustrades, embrasures &#8211; o\u00f9 se n\u00e9gocient pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment la rencontre de la nature et du domestique. Dans ces liminalit\u00e9s, le dedans et le dehors se tendent la main et se prolongent l\u2019un dans l\u2019autre. Il n\u2019y a pas de s\u00e9paration stricte et lin\u00e9aire entre les deux, mais plut\u00f4t des lianes et volutes par lesquelles un espace se rattache \u00e0 ce qui le pr\u00e9c\u00e8de et \u00e0 ce qui le suit.<br>\u2003Pour rendre perceptibles ces porosit\u00e9s de l\u2019architecture et de la nature, Emma Durovray s\u2019empare de la dimension cyclique qui r\u00e9git la vie des plantes et celle des ombres port\u00e9es des ornements. Envisag\u00e9es comme les t\u00e9moins silencieux des activit\u00e9s humaines, des plantes tinctoriales sont pr\u00e9lev\u00e9es sur le lieu, et trait\u00e9es pour colorer des tissus pr\u00e9alablement pr\u00e9par\u00e9s dans une solution \u00e0 base d\u2019alun. \u00c0 travers la s\u00e9rie <em>Shadow<\/em>, on lit l&rsquo;origine des rinceaux de ferronnerie dans les haies taill\u00e9es, la pr\u00e9sence spectrale qui pr\u00e9c\u00e8de toute chose soumise au temps. Les motifs &#8211; v\u00e9g\u00e9taux ou architecturaux &#8211; se m\u00ealent dans des compositions fix\u00e9es de mani\u00e8re de photosensible gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la technique du cyanotype. Par ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9, les formes sont d\u00e9contextualis\u00e9es, difficilement identifiables dans leur origine et acqui\u00e8rent en cela une certaine anachronicit\u00e9. Le d\u00e9placement de la lumi\u00e8re, la dimension fulgurante de la composition et la monochromie vibratile participent d\u2019une animation des motifs. Ceux-ci sont tout \u00e0 la fois fix\u00e9s et dilu\u00e9s par les colorations naturelles dans des compositions-portraits qui leur conf\u00e8rent un statut de membres de la famille, les int\u00e8grent \u00e0 hauteur \u00e9gale que leurs homologues humains \u00e0 ce qui n\u2019est pas tant, aux yeux de l\u2019artiste, un herbier qu\u2019un album photo. En d\u00e9coule un rapport de longue dur\u00e9e \u00e0 ces images, autant par la temporalit\u00e9 propre \u00e0 sa r\u00e9v\u00e9lation par photosensibilit\u00e9 sur le support que dans la dimension fossile \u00e0 peine d\u00e9voil\u00e9e. \u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9tat de hantise, dans des \u00e9tats diff\u00e9r\u00e9s, les plantes survivent malgr\u00e9 leur disparition annonc\u00e9e. En retour, leur fulgurance agit sur la mani\u00e8re dont l\u2019architecture peut \u00eatre elle-m\u00eame per\u00e7ue comme une archive transitoire et fragile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
